Bundeshandelsakademie und Bundeshandelsschule Kitzbühel

In addition to the regular IT subjects of the college for business administration, the college for business and IT (IT-HAK) offers a wide range of subjects related to different areas of IT. Since 2014/15, the college for business and IT in Kitzbühel has been the only institution in this part of the Tyrol to offer this programme.
These further IT subjects include IT systems and network technologies, internet, multimedia and content management, e-business and e-business centre (practice firm), applied programming, software development as well as project management and project work. The programme is divided into core subjects and specialisation subjects related to business information systems - digital business.
IT subjects make up around 40% of the total number of classes offered and English is taught as the only foreign language. Notebooks, tablets and smartphones are "state of the art" and commonly used and encouraged in class. The aim of the programme is to offer a practical and project-based IT training. To successfully complete the programme, students are expected to work regularly in the e-business centre (practice firm) during their training and to work on a project in a team. This prepares students for a potential future as an entrepreneur in digital business.
From the second year onwards, subjects are taught on a term-by-term basis in competency clusters. Practical work as well as compulsory internships (either during school holidays or on a part-time basis) allow the students to get valuable hands-on experience while still in training. After graduating from school and practical experience alumni can request to hold the title"Ing."
