Holistic system solutions

Smart Building

Many Tyrolean SMEs are experts in energy-efficient building and renewable energies. The competences of the companies in the Renewable Energies Cluster reflect this.

The focus on Smart Buildings is meant to increase the pioneering role of Tyrolean universities and companies and push them into the international spotlight even more. The main aim is to initiate and support the development of innovative components and holistic system solutions and planning tools for buildings. This should boost the competitiveness of the location as well as the attractiveness of Tyrol for employees and scientists even more.

Combining technologies and developing and implementing holistic system solutions creates great potential for innovation. Therefore, the Renewable Energies cluster provides the ideal platform for these projects as organisations with the essential technologies and expertise are represented in this network. Furthermore, the desired interdisciplinary cooperation with companies and research partners in the IT, Mechatronics and Wellness clusters increases these competences and promotes the development of new and unconventional solutions. Synergies with the Sinfonia Smart City project are to be expected.

A cross-thematic and cross-cluster approach, which takes into consideration sustainability and climate change, urbanisation, the increasing interlinking of energy supply, consumption and storage, the progressive digitisation of our lives, the development of new materials as well as social challenges such as demographic changes and "affordable living", will make use of synergies with the key areas and initiatives of the IT, Mechatronics, Wellness and Life Sciences clusters such as Industry 4.0 or the "Internet of Things", Building Information Modelling (BIM), material technologies, Ambient Assisted and Healthy Living as well as with the "smart cities" project focusing on energy. Transferring these solutions to tourism will lead to great potential for Tyrol.
