The University of Innsbruck was founded in 1669 and is now the largest and most important research and educational institution in western Austria with around 28,000 students and over 5,500 employees. Current research focuses include Alpine regions, cultural encounters - cultural conflicts, economics, politics & society (EPoS), molecular biosciences, physics, scientific computing and the Digital Science Center (DiSC).
